The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the way adults come to learn about and experience the Christian life, specifically our Roman Catholic tradition, and become initiated into the life of our Church through the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
The RCIA is not something new. It is a return to the earliest traditions of our Church which took place between the second and the fifth centuries of the Christian era! The RCIA takes place step by step within the Christian community. It requires a commitment to participate in the weekly sessions, where the Catholic Faith is displayed and explained, in the liturgies and Rites that accompany the time of preparation, and in the daily living and deepening of the personal faith of the participant.
The RCIA program is directed to:
A. Adults who either have never been baptized or have been baptized in other Christian Churches and desire, or think about, becoming Catholic. The procedure to be enrolled in the RCIA program, for those who are in the situation under (1) and (2) above, is the following:
If you are an adult Catholic who has received all the Sacraments of Initiation and want to deepen the understanding and personal significance of their faith, you are more than welcome to attend the RCIA sessions.
The program runs on Monday evenings (from 7:00 to 8:45) and will start in September.
